*** Due to the tragedy in the Oregon District, WYSO is postponing Shakin' Dave's retirement celebration.  We'll announce a new date for the event at the Yellow Cab soon. ****

Longtime WYSO Public Radio blues host Shakin’ Dave Hussong will retire from his Sunday afternoon program at the end of July.  The final episode of Hall of Fame Blues will air on July 28, 3-5pm on WYSO 91.3FM.

“I hope that I’ve added my personal contribution to the culture of Miami Valley blues.  It has been an honor,” says Hussong.

“Since his first broadcast back in 1983, Shakin’ Dave has defined blues programming on WYSO. We are profoundly grateful for the passion, expertise and dedication that Dave brought to his chapter in the long legacy of blues on WYSO. And I am, perhaps, most grateful for his generosity of spirit,” says WYSO Music Director Niki Dakota.

Local guitar player Eric Henry will launch a new blues program, The Blues Revival, on WYSO.  Henry is a Xenia resident who has performed with a variety of blues, rock, and reggae bands for over 20 years.  He currently performs with local band Wolf Moon Revival.

“I’ve been listening to Shakin’ Dave on WYSO since 1997,” says Henry.  “That experience shaped my knowledge of and connection to the blues. I hope to carry on the tradition of great blues programming on WYSO by continuing to educate listeners about the genre and keeping this American art form alive in the Miami Valley.”

The Blues Revivalhosted by Eric Henry will air Sundays, 3 - 5pm on WYSO beginning August 11.
