In Wake Of Federal Corruption Investigation Consultant To Join Minority Business Assistance Center

Minority Business Assistance Center director RoShawn Winburn is on leave after being indicted on alleged fraud and public corruption charges.

The city of Dayton’s Human Relations Council announced Tuesday it has hired Trotwood management consultant Adrienne Heard.

According to a press release from the city, Heard will join the Greater Dayton Minority Business Assistance Center to ensure it remains fully operational.

A city spokesperson says Heard will serve as a consultant, "joining staff to handle services until further notice."

Last week, the center’s director RoShawn Winburn was indicted under federal charges of alleged fraud and public corruption. Winburn remains on administrative leave.

Also charged separately as part of the same investigation were former Dayton city commissioner Joey Williams, former state representative Clayton Luckie and Dayton entrepreneur Brian Higgins.

Most of the charges were linked to the awarding of city contracts. Dayton officials have hired a law firm to review the city's contracting process.

Jerry has won several Ohio AP awards as well as an award from PRINDI for his work with the WYSO news department. Jerry says that the best part of his job is being able to talk to people in the community and share their experiences with WYSO listeners.
