What's Great in Dayton: September 1 - 7, 2017
As the city slips out of summer and into fall, there's no better way to kick off the long weekend than with First Friday activities throughout downtown Dayton! Discover a new artist at a gallery opening; kick back with food and drink specials at a bar or restaurant; groove to a local band playing at a nearby pub and many other things to do. Whatever mood strikes, downtown's growing number of independent businesses are ready to serve a proper summer send-off. This starts tonight at 5pm.
Radio-Controlled Model Aircraft jets, warbirds and helicopters from all eras of aviation history. It's from 5pm today and Saturday 9 – 5 and Sunday 9am-4pm on Sunday. Each day will include a noon-time show for the RC pilots to show off their talents and abilities. In addition, Horizon Hobby will provide a "try me" station for visitors to try their hand at flying a RC aircraft.
Honey Apple Fest. Smokin Bee-Bee-Q has a full menu of their honey-sweetened barbecue, along with delicious desserts, Kettle Corn, and other fall treats like roasted corn on the cob and some samples of apple butter & biscuits. They will also be demonstrating beekeeping and how to safely extract honey from the hives. Saturday, 10am-6pm, Monnin's Farm at 8201 Frederick Pike, Dayton.
