Protesters Call for Reopening Of Businesses And More Top Stories This Week

As Governor Andy Beshear gave his daily public briefing, audible shouting was broadcast through the Democrat's Facebook feed. Protestors had gathered outside the State Capitol and loudly called for the governor to "reopen" Kentucky, which, like many states, is mostly shut down due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beshear remained steadfast, stating that he would be guided by health officials in his decision-making.

The governor added that he is working with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb on plans to reopen as closely together as possible.

Courier-Journal reporter Joe Sonka and Herald-Leader reporter Daniel Desrochers join Cincinnati Edition to talk about the events in Frankfort, including the legislature's overriding of Beshear's veto of multiple pieces of legislation, the result of which will require a photo ID to vote in November.

Meanwhile, Cincinnati bankers offer advice on how to acquire federal stimulus money quickly, and the city's hotel boom may be threatened by the pandemic. For a discussion on the week's business headlines, Cincinnati Business Courier reporters Steve Watkins and Tom Demeropolis will be with us.
