Coronavirus Pandemic Leading To Fears Of Eviction
With millions of jobs lost because of the coronavirus pandemic, many Americans are struggling to pay their bills. Some states, including Kentucky and Indiana, have issued temporary moratoriums on evictions and foreclosures to help protect renters. Ohio has no such moratorium.
Tenants in some cities around the nation are staging rent strikes in an effort to get landlords to negotiate. But in other cases, landlords have come to agreements to keep tenants in place and have waived late fees when rent is not paid at the first of the month.
Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the resources available to tenants struggling to make rent payments during the pandemic is Legal Aid Society of Southwestern Ohio LLC Managing Attorney Nick DiNardo.
The Legal Aid Society has help and information during the COVID-19 pandemic available on its website.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
