Revisiting Queensgate II As It's Demolished For Parking

It was a major project undertaken by the city of Cincinnati as part of the urban renewal trend of the mid-20th century.

Queensgate II, created as a destination near Music Hall on Central Parkway, offered an amphitheater, a park, and its grander plan called for shopping and more entertainment options.

But just as soon as it was completed it fell into disrepair and was mostly unused.

And now it's gone.

Coming up on Cincinnati Edition | 3/2 from Cincinnati Public Radio on Vimeo.

The city tore it down in recent months to make way for a parking lot to serve the police department.

Cincinnati Edition explores the project's history and its failure.

Joining the show to talk about it are YARD & Co. principals Joe Nickol and Kevin Wright, and Cincinnati Public Radio/WVXU social media coordinator Ronny Salerno, who also curates the blog Queen City Discovery.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
