There are more than 12,000 evictions a year in Hamilton County. That's 34% higher than the national average. Now, the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati and the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency have created a program to mitigate the crisis. The goal of the Eviction Prevention Assistance Program is to keep families in their homes.

The Community Action Agency and Legal Aid are partnering with the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County to hold a series of information sessions on renters' rights. The next session is this Monday, Aug. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Norwood YMCA, 2039 Sherman Avenue.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the Eviction Prevention Assistance Program are Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency President and CEO Mark Lawson; and Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio LLC Staff Attorney Alpha Taylor.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
