The story of beer in Dayton and the Miami Valley is as old as the region's first settlers, who brought their brewing methods with them from Europe.

Cincinnati's contributions to all things beer are well-known, but brewing played a significant role in the early growth and culture of the Dayton, Ohio area as well.

In his latest book, Dayton Beer: A History of Brewing in the Miami Valley, author Timothy Gaffney explores that region's rich brewing history.

He joins Cincinnati Edition to discuss the men, and women, who were leaders in the brewing industry in and around Dayton.

If you'd like to learn more about Miami Valley's brewing history, join Tim Gaffney (@TRGaffney) for History and a Pint. The next event in the series of discussions takes place Thursday, August 15 at The Barrel House in Dayton, Ohio.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
