Simply Money Consumer Reports Moving To WKRC-TV
The Simply Money consumer reports seen on WXIX-TV since 2006 moves to WKRC-TV on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Amy Wagner, who had reported the weeknight features on WXIX-TV until April, will be seen on WKRC-TV's Good Morning Cincinnati and 11 p.m. newscasts. She previously was a reporter-anchor at WXIX-TV and WLWT-TV.
The Simply Money spots were created about 14 years ago by Nathan Bachrach, an owner of the financial planning company, and Kathy Palmer, a former WLWT-TV news executive producer. Palmer writes and produces the segments with photographer Kevin Rue, also a WLWT-TV veteran.
"We're really excited about the addition of this great resource to the Local 12 digital and broadcast platforms," said Jon Lawhead, general manager for WKRC-TV and Sinclair stations in Dayton, Toledo and Lexington, in an announcement. "Viewers and users will be able to draw on the information gathered by Amy and the Simply Money team that they really can’t get anywhere else."
"I got into TV news to provide people with information that helps them make smarter, better informed decisions about their lives. Our Simply Money segments do just that," Wagner said in the announcement.
The reports will continue to be called Simply Money, although the local retirement planning firm was acquired by Sacramento-based Hanson McCain Advisors last year. Hanson McCain changed its name to Allworth Financial in March.
"Simply Money is how we've been known since 1994. It's the easiet way for people to be acquianted with us," says Bachrach, who started in radio at WVXU-FM when Xavier University owned the station. He started doing TV reports on Fox 19 after Xavier sold the radio station to Cincinnati Public Radio in 2005.
Bachrach and Wagner also broadcast a Simply Moneyradio show 6-7 p.m. weekdays on WKRC-AM, and write a weekly column for the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Wagner was first seen on TV here on Channel 5 from 2004 to 2011. She also had worked as Greater Cincinnati development director for Susan G. Komen for the Cure (2011-13); a Channel 19 anchor/investigative reporter (2013-15); and community and public relations director for Thomas More College (2015-16) before joining Simply Money in April 2016.
