Kentucky holds its primary elections next Tuesday, May 21. Republicans and Democrats will choose their candidates for seven state executive offices: Governor; Lieutenant Governor; Attorney General; Secretary of State; Commissioner of Agriculture; Auditor; and, Treasurer. The general election takes place November 5.
Four Democrats and four Republicans are running for governor, including incumbent Republican Governor Matt Bevin.
There are also eight candidates in the Secretary of State race, with four Republicans and four Democrats looking to replace Alison Lundergan Grimes.
According to the Secretary of State's office, more than 3 million people are registered to vote in Kentucky. That's a net increase of almost 19,000 voters since last November's general election. Less than half, 47.38%, of Kentucky voters cast ballots in that election.
