Fate Of NKY's Silver Grove School Could Be Known Monday
A Northern Kentucky school district may be closer to closing its doors. The Silver Grove Board of Education held a special working meeting Wednesday night where it discussed terms for a potential merger with the Campbell County School District.
Last November's election saw a complete makeover of the makeup of the school board. The possibility of shuttering the district comes after years of complaints of high taxes, declining enrollment and low test scores. There are 215 students enrolled in preschool through 12th grade.
The superintendent of Silver Grove Independent Schools Dennis Maines wants his staff to be guaranteed interviews at Campbell County Schools if Silver Grove's board of education approves a merger.
A formal decision could come at Monday's regular school board meeting. For more detailed information, visit the story "Silver Grove School Board Discusses Merger with Campbell County" at rcnky.com.
