Projected Impacts of Climate Change on Our Region
The impacts of global climate change are already being felt and are only projected to intensify. That's the conclusion of a U.S. government report that was supposed to come out in December. The Trump administration chose instead to release the report on Black Friday.
The federally mandated study delivers a dire warning about the harm to the U.S. economy, infrastructure and human health, unless we take action to reduce emissions. The report comes on the heels of the landmark report from the United Nations predicting the atmosphere will warm by as much at 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit by 2040.
Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the future impacts of climate change in our region are University of Cincinnati Environmental Studies Director and Associate Professor of Geology and Geography Amy Townsend-Small, Ph.D.; City of Cincinnati Office of Environment and Sustainability Director Larry Falkin; and Science Over Everything Founder and Editor Chris Anderson.
