The Fernald Materials Production Site processed uranium for nuclear weapons from 1951 to 1989. When production ended, the long clean-up of the site, northwest of Cincinnati, began. Today, it's a picturesque countryside. Now, Reporter Duane Pohlman's investigation finds more than three tons of uranium has been dumped into Great Miami River since Fernald was cleaned-up.
Joining us to discuss the site are Local 12 News Investigative Reporter Duane Pohlman; and Fernald Preserve Site Manager for the Department of Energy Sue Smiley.
