Kevin Zeitler, Domata Peko On CBS 'MVP' Talent Show Jan. 25
Sure-handed receiver A.J. Green's juggling wasn't good enough to make the final cut for CBS' live talent show airing Thursday, Jan. 25.
But you'll see former Bengals Domata Peko and Kevin Zeitler among the six finalists on CBS' "MVP: Most Valuable Performer" talent show broadcast live Thursday (8 p.m., Channel 12, CBS) from Hollywood.
Peko, the Denver Broncos nose tackle, will play guitar. Zeitler, a Cleveland Browns guard, will do "dog tricks," CBS announced Tuesday.
L.L. Cool J will host the competition, which also includes Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart (piano), and three Baltimore Ravens, kicker Justin Tucker (opera singing), running back Alex Collins (Irish dancing) and defensive tackle Brandon Williams (singing).
Brothers Jacob and Cody Hollister (singing/guitar duo) from the New England Patriots could not participate because they're preparing for the Super Bowl.
Green, who started juggling in the first grade, was one of the 32 NFL players participating in an online video competition that started Dec. 1. Here's a clip from 2011:
Judging the competition will be singer-actress Katharine McPhee ("Scorpion," "Smash," American Idol") , actor-comedian Maz Jobrani ("Superior Donuts," "Better Off Ted") and New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Marshall ("Inside the NFL").
Sharon Osbourne from CBS' "The Talk" will mentor the NFL players "to ensure the transition from pro athlete to star performer goes off without a hitch."
More from CBS: "During the special, NFL players will showcase their off-the-field talents, such as singing, playing instruments, dancing and more, live from the Avalon Hollywood. Then, the three judges will draw upon their unique backgrounds in musical theater, acting, hosting and sports to evaluate their performances and each choose one player to advance to the final three. During the broadcast viewers can vote online."
