Paying For A Professional Soccer Stadium And A Look At Ohio Political News

We look at the news affecting Greater Cincinnati and the Tri-state
We look at the news affecting Greater Cincinnati and the Tri-state

Soccer dominated local news this week. Or, more accurately, how to finance the game, as both Cincinnati City Council and Hamilton County Commissioners approved funding measures totaling approximately $52 million towards a parking garage and other infrastructure for a new FC Cincinnati stadium. The team is one of four finalists vying for a Major League Soccer franchise, and will present their proposal to MLS next week.

But there are still several aspects of the plan in question, including where, exactly, the stadium will be located.

And the Ohio governor's race is starting to shape up. Yesterday, Attorney General Mike DeWine announced Secretary of State Jon Husted will be his running mate in the GOP primary. Democrats are expecting former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray to announce his candidacy in the next week.

Joining us to discuss the FC Cincinnati stadium funding plan and what happens next, along with a look at the Ohio governor's race and other top stories in the Tri-state, are Cincinnati Enquirer Investigative Reporter Sharon Coolidge; Enquirer Xavier Basketball and FC Cincinnati reporter Patrick Brennan; Cincinnati Business Courier staff reporter and columnist Chris Wetterich; Ohio Public Radio Statehouse News Bureaureporter Jo Ingles; and WVXUcity hall reporter Jay Hanselman.
