Correction: This story has been updated to clarify Hull's comments.

Work on the Brent Spence Bridge began about two weeks ago. In phase one of the rehabilitation project, two lanes were closed on the northbound deck and two more are closed on the southbound deck. The temporary change can make it seem like traffic has doubled on the bridge.

Brent Spence Bridge Maintenance Communication Team member Betty Hull says the work is going as planned and they are where they expected to be by this time in the process.

Hull says people have been taking alternate routes when possible. It's not clear when phase one will be done, but Hull says the public will be notified as soon as a date is known. The entire project is expected to last two months.

The second phase will close the two center lanes on both the top and bottom decks.

Hull says there have not been any setbacks.

Hull encourages anyone who uses the Brent Spence Bridge to go to for travel patterns, alternate routes and detour information.
