Answering Questions About Health Insurance Open Enrollment Under The Affordable Care Act
With Donald Trump taking control of the White House and Republican majorities in both the House and Senate, there could be significant changes made to the Affordable Care Act during the next year.
But for now, the ACA is still in place, and most Americans are required to have health insurance or face a penalty. The open enrollment period for purchasing insurance for 2017 started November 1 and runs through January 31.

With the recent dismantling of the Kentucky health care exchange, Kynect, Kentucky residents must now use the federal Health Insurance Marketplace, HealthCare.gov, to purchase insurance. A special site has been created for Kentucky residents and can be accessed by clicking here. Residents of Ohio and Indiana will continue using Healthcare.gov.
