Hamilton County Hires New Administrator From Within
The interim Hamilton County Administrator can now take the interim out of his title. Commissioners voted Wednesday morning to appoint Jeff Aluotto to the position he's been serving in since April when Christian Sigman resigned.
Aluotto says he's humbled and honored to be selected. "We have a bevy of challenges and opportunities in front of us, as we all know, but that's what makes this job in public service so fun. And it really is fun. So, I appreciate the confidence and look forward to getting a lot of work done over the next multitude of years."
Commissioner Todd Portune addressed Aluotto at Wednesday morning's meeting.
"You are the perfect person for this job at the right time. And I can't say I've been as enthusiastic about hiring someone at this level, at this position, ever."
Portune says that includes his time on the Cincinnati Council.
Commissioner Dennis Deters says Aluotto is exceptionally positioned to lead the county. "I'm not sure I've met someone that is as well tuned into the issues and has his finger on the pulse of the community like Jeff does."
Commission President Chris Monzel also had high praise for Aluotto. "Jeff, I just want to thank you for all the hard work you've done for the residents of Hamilton County over the past several years. It has stood out for me as an example of a true public servant."
Aluotto served as assistant county administrator for the last ten years. He was also a program manager for the Hamilton County Solid Waste District, an environmental specialist for the city of Oxford, and a staff environmentalist for Butler County. He graduated in 1992 from Miami University and earned a master's of environmental policy from there in 1994. He earned a Master's of Business Administration from Xavier University in 2003.
Aluotto will make about $188,000 a year as administrator, the same as his predecessor.
