It's King Records Month! Have A Rockin' Good Time!

You can learn about Cincinnati's most famous record label with dozens of events and special shows on this six-page list for King Records Month 2016. 

Print out the list and circle your favorites. These are mine:

A King Records exhibit at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Sept. 1-30.

A Day with King Recordsmusic 3-10 p.m. this Saturday (Sept. 3) at Washington Park, ending with Young James Brown with Deuces at 9 p.m.

A month-long saluteto King Records on "The Blues with Lee Hay" at 11 p.m. Saturdays here on WVXU-FM. Music historian Brian Powers does the interviews for shows on Bull Moose Jackson (Sept. 3); Wynonie Harris (Sept. 10); Roy Brown (Sept. 17) and a two-hour show (Sept. 24 and Oct. 1) on King Records songwriter/producer Henry Glover.

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County downtown has a terrific lineup of programs, including  on the Country Music Goes to Vietman album recorded 50 years ago at King Records (7 p.m. Sept. 14); King's jazz legacy (3 p.m. Saturday Sept 24) and on Redd Foxx's four comedy albums on the King label (7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28).

There will be music events and special programs all around town, at the Kenton County Public Library, and on radio.

WNKU-FM(89.7) will air a "King for the Day" recording daily, while "Mr. Rhythm Man" plays stacks of wax from King Records at 7 p.m. Sept. 10.
