Cincinnati Looks For Ways To Improve Minority Health
The Creating Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC) and Cincinnati Health Department (CHD) recently hosted a minority health discussion to figure out the most pressing needs for minorities in the area and how to better serve the health and wellness needs of Cincinnatians.
According tocurrent findings, among the most frequent minority health issues in Cincinnati are heart disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension and HIV/AIDS. The CHCC and CHD have found in the past that increasing community collaboration and bettering consumer health literacy, for example, have helped improve health outcomes.
Here to talk about health risks affecting minorities, the key factors contributing to these risks and ways to improve health are Cincinnati Health DepartmentDirector of Health Promotion and Worksite Wellness and Project Director for Creating Healthy Communities, DenishaPorter, and Interim Health Commissioner for the City of Cincinnati, Dr.O'dellOwens.
