The federal guidelines to public schools on treating transgender students has received some backlash from states.

Last month, the Obama Administration instructed public schools to allow transgender students to use the restroom corresponding to their gender identity. Students who are discriminated against may have a legal basis to fight back with these federal guidelines in place.

However, eleven states have filed a lawsuit asking the court to block the federal government from implementing, applying or enforcing the new rules, regulations and guidance interpretations.”
