Columbus native Jeffrey Myers performs with the Calidore String Quartet live on Classical 101 Friday morning at 10.

Friday morning, a Columbus-born musician comes home to perform with his internationally acclaimed string quartet, and a great Columbus musical collaboration begins its second act - and all of it's live on Classical 101.

Tune in to Classical 101 Friday morning at 10 to hear a live performance and interview with the Calidore String Quartet, a young American quartet headed up by first violinist and Columbus native Jeffrey Myers and described as “fiercely talented,” and currently serving as ensemble-in-residence at Stony Brook University.

Friday morning, the quartet will give us a preview of its concert, presented by Chamber Music Columbus, this Saturday, Jan. 15, at 4 p.m. at the Southern Theatre. The musicians will also talk about the new work composed by Tom Vignieri, formerly music director of NPR’s From the Top, for them and musicians of Columbus' Chamber Music Connection. Vignieri and Chamber Music Connection artistic director Deborah Price will join the conversation on the eve of the new work's world premiere Saturday afternoon.

Don’t miss a phenomenal meeting of musical minds with the Calidore String Quartet, composer Tom Vignieri and Chamber Music Connection’s Deborah Price Friday morning at 10 – live on Classical 101.

The Calidore String Quartet and musicians of the Chamber Music Connection perform works by Mozart, Caroline Shaw, Tom Vignieri and Mendelssohn Saturday, Jan. 16 at 4 p.m. at the Southern Theatre, in a concert presented by Chamber Music Columbus. More information at cmcolumbus.org.

Jennifer Hambrick unites her extensive backgrounds in the arts and media and her deep roots in Columbus to bring inspiring music to central Ohio as Classical 101’s midday host. Jennifer performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before earning a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
