Two weeks ago, Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens put the kibosh on a proposal to hold a statewide vote in an august special election to make it harder to amend the state constitution. Last week, he appeared to reverse course.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has had a change of heart about an August election, after he previously complained that too few voters turn out to justify the expense.
The change of course comes as Ohio Republicans aim to make it harder to amend the constitution harder before a reproductive rights amendment could possibly appear on the November ballot.
