Open Enrollment In Schools

About 80% of schools in Ohio allow students from other districts to attend their schools in a process known as open enrollment. The ones with closed enrollments, think New Albany, Dublin, Upper Arlington and Westerville, tend to be wealthy and suburban.

A movement is afoot in Ohio, advanced by school choice advocates, to mandate open enrollment statewide. Districts with closed or limited outside enrollment say that’s misguided.

Today on All Sides with Ann Fisher, we consider the pros and cons of open school enrollment.
