Columbus City Council approved a $1.7 million to settle two wrongful death lawsuits on Monday night.
One of the settlements involves the family of Deborah Saenz, who sued five police officers and a 911 dispatcher for failing to protect her from her boyfriend who killed her one day after police responded to a dispute at her home.
The city has agreed to pay the family $600,000 in the case.
The other case involves Columbus paramedics charged with failing to provide medical attention to Danny James, who died in 2017 after paramedics declined to transport him to the hospital.
The city has agreed to pay $1.1 million in that case.
