Musicology 101 Podcast: Music and Beer

The history of music, much like the early history of beer, centers around people who were passionate about improving their craft and making it accessible. In this podcast, I take a look at a bit of the history of early chant repertoire and how it relates to the development of everyone's favorite malt beverage.

This Sunday, The Early Interval ensemble will join Wolf's Ridge Brewery for a one-of-a-kind event featuring a special keg-tapping accompanied by live music. In preparation for this lively event, I did some research about the history of beer and early music, and I found some interesting parallels. To top it off, I called Donato Cabrera, maestro of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and long-time beer connoisseur, for his thoughts on brewing and music today.

To learn more about Early Music and Beer History, join me at this Sunday, December 6th at 6:00 PM at Wolf's Ridge Brewing's Tap Room, 215 N 4th Street, Columbus. Commemorative ale glasses, snacks, and samples of a special Twelfth Night Cake from Laughlin's Bakery will be available for purchase at the event.

I'll see you there!

(Special thanks to Aaron M. Sturgill for opening and incidental music and to WOSU audio engineer Eric French for intro music recording.)
