Ronnie Agnew became general manager of WOSU Public Media in 2022. WOSU serves Central Ohio’s over 2.2 million citizens with trusted public television and radio programming including the best radio news operation in Ohio.
Ronnie leads the strategic direction of WOSU’s broadcast, digital, programming, public engagement and education experiences. WOSU Public Media consists of a public radio network of seven stations – including 89.7 NPR News and Classical 101 – and the four-channel public television station serving Columbus. WOSU has 70 staff, a budget of $12 million and a membership topping 30,000.
Ronnie has 35+ years’ experience working in and leading media organizations and he has a Bachelor of Arts in English/Radio and Television from the University of Mississippi.
Ronnie recently finished a second term on the national PBS Board of Directors and remains on PBS’s editorial standards committee. He also chaired PBS’s Diversity and Nominating committees. Ronnie is the former board chairman of America’s Public Television Stations (APTS) and was executive committee chairman of the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). Ronnie recently finished a term as board chairman of American Public Television, the largest syndicator of content to U.S. public media stations. He is a member of the Organization of State Broadcasting Executives.
During his career, he has won numerous industry awards and covered major events such as Mississippi civil rights and Hurricane Katrina. In 2018, Agnew was named by Our Mississippi Magazine as one of the 25 most influential African Americans in the state.
