David CarwileDirector of Planning & Initiatives
A 40-year broadcasting veteran, David Carwile is Senior Director of Planning and Initiatives and serves as an Associate Director of WOSU Public Media.
After a turn as a Statehouse reporter in commercial broadcasting in the early 1980s, Dave joined WOSU in 1986 and worked as Director of Radio Programming and then Station Manager for WOSU Radio.
Today, he also serves as the Administrator for Ohio Education Television Stations, Inc. representing all Ohio PTV stations at the state level. In partnership with the Ohio EMA and CPB, Dave developed and serves as project manager of Ohio’s Emergency Alerting System (OEAS) delivering amber alerts and other emergency information state-wide using datacasting technology embedded in PTV stations’ signals.
Dave holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from OSU. He is a former long-time member of the Rotary Club of Columbus and served as announcer for The Ohio State University Marching Band for 37 football seasons. He lives in Worthington with his wife Kathleen.
