Franklin County Resumes Foreclosures For First Time Since March

Foreclosures resume in Franklin County after more than a two-month halt.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office stopped handling foreclosures in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spokeswoman Maureen Kocot says the real estate division is waiting to see how the temporary halt will impact how many foreclosures they see this week.

That will depend on two figures: how many attorneys submitted an order-of-sale prior to the office closing, and whether the clerk's office began processing the order prior to ceasing operations.

Kocot says next sheriff’s sale will be July 10 and includes an estimated 30 properties.

Foreclosure numbers should be available later this week.
