Two Olentangy Liberty High School employees have been placed on leave after controversial postings on Facebook.

Study hall aide Toni Evans shared a post of politicians of color alongside text that reads, “We are being taken over from within.” Meanwhile, study hall aide Marsha Fedorawicz Cywnar commented on a story of a transgender couple expecting a baby, writing it was a case of “mental illness."

A spokeswoman for the school district says employees have the right to express themselves, but the posts in question conflict with the school’s mission and disrupt the school environment.

The spokeswoman says the district is “working to remedy the situation in a constructive manner,” but didn’t give further details.

WOSU has been unable to reach the employees. Subsequent comments on the posts alternatively criticized the employees and praised them for treating all students with respect.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified an employee's position.
