Beechcroft Student Charged With Making School Threat

Franklin County Jail
/

A Beechcroft High School student was arrested Sunday after reportedly making a threat against the school on social media.

Police say Deandre Fleming, 18, faces one count of inducing panic, a second-degree felony.

The Sunday arrest came two days after a rash of threats made against schools pushed many to cancel classes.

Police say Fleming admitted creating an Instagram account to say there would be an attack at the northeast Columbus high school on Monday.

Police say they received a large number of calls reporting the threat.

Police say they were able to trace the IP address used on the Instagram account to Fleming’s stempmother’s home on Bayfield Drive.

SWAT officers arrested Fleming there on Sunday. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning.
