Jobs Report Says Ohio Employers Added 4,300 Workers In October
October was a good month for the state's job market.
The monthly jobs report released Friday says Ohio’s official unemployment rate fell from 5.3 percent in September to 5.1 percent last month. That came as employers reported adding about 4,300 workers, Another survey of households said the number of people officially listed as unemployed shrank by about 9,000.
October was a great month for Ohio’s manufacturing industry, which added more than 4,000 jobs. Trade, transportation, and utilities also added more than 2,000 workers.
Industries losing workers included construction, educational and health services, and leisure and hospitality.
The October jobs report released on Friday also included downward revisions for the September report. Instead of gaining 10,500 jobs in September, the state only added 100.
Ohio unemployment rate of 5.1 percent is still well above the national unemployment rate of 4.1 percent.
