Two people were injured when a truck crashed head-on into a school bus Thursday morning on Columbus' west side, according to police.

Columbus Police spokeswoman Denise Alex-Bouzounis says the collision occurred near the intersection of Eakin Road and Hardesty Drive on the city's west side.

The bus was carrying students from the Franklin County Community program, a part of Franklin County's Board of Developmental Disabilities.

After the truck hit, the bus crashed into a power pole, knocking it down. Bystanders came to rescue the children off the school bus.

Alex-Bouzounis says medics transported two people from the accident, one person to Mt. Carmel West Hospital and one taken to Grant Hospital. The injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

It's not known yet if either were a student.
