Health Agency Promotes Safer Drug Use, Drug Prevention Expands To Columbus' West Side
A local health group is responding to the growing heroin epidemic by expanding its free services to Columbus’ west side.
Equitas Health promotes educating the community about safer drug use and fighting the spread of infectious diseases like Hepatitis C and HIV. It now has a second clinic at 524B West Broad Street.
David Dagg-Murry with Equitas Health says he knows there are many more people his agency can help.
“We have been serving an increasing number of clients," Dagg-Murry said. "We are seeing a total of 859 clients so far since the inception of the program which began in January. We’ve distributed over 18,000 syringes.”
The health facility also offers free drug intervention treatment and counseling.
Its first location is at 1033 North High Street in the Short North.
