Columbus fire officials say 13 women had to jump from a second-story window to escape a house fire near the Ohio State University campus early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the fire brought heavy damage to the home on East Northwood Avenue that's occupied by members of a Christian women's ministry organization.

“It’s believed, at this time, that (the fire) was due to illegal fireworks on the front porch," said Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin.

Martin says several people sustained minor injuries, including a police officer who responded to the scene.
