The city of Columbus has a director for the new Department of Neighborhoods.

Mayor Andrew Ginther  announced Wednesday the appointment of Carla Williams-Scott to lead the department.

Ginther said he needed someone who is well known and respected in various communities and who will share her thoughts and opinions. He called Williams-Scott the perfect choice.

Williams-Scott is currently the Assistant Director for Economic Development for Franklin County.
