Findlay Man Latest To Come Down With Zika Virus
Health authorities in Findlay say they've talked to a man diagnosed with the Zika virus about how to prevent the spread of the virus.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, 13 travel-related cases of the virus are now in the state. The Hancock County health commissioner says the latest case comes after a 50-year-old man contracted the virus during a recent trip to the Caribbean.
The virus is spread by mosquitoes and has been especially problematic in Central and South America, where pregnant women are being told to avoid if possible. Zika virus has been linked to microcephaly, a condition that can cause brain damage in infants.
Ohio has still yet to see any cases of the Zika virus being transmitted in the state.
