Ohio GOP Leader Says Kasich's Decision To Suspend Presidential Campaign Was Realistic
Gov. John Kasich had promised he’d take his presidential campaign all the way to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this summer, but he suspended it last night. This is how the head of the state’s Republican Party is viewing that decision.
Chairman Matt Borges says Kasich’s decision was realistic. “He knew it was time and he was comfortable with the state of affairs. And we were also realistic about what the delegate math meant,” Borges said.
Kasich was fourth in the delegate count, even behind Marco Rubio, who dropped out of the presidential race nearly two months ago. Borges says the party will now focus on how to unify to do one thing – beat the Democratic nominee for president this fall.
