Ohio, SEIU Negotiators Reach Tentative Labor Agreement

Leaders of a union representing 4,000 state workers say they've reached a tentative agreement with Ohio officials on a new, three-year contract that includes a pay bump.

The Service Employees International Union, District 1199, said Friday the full details of the deal would remain confidential until its members vote on the tentative agreement. The union did say the terms include a 2.5 percent wage increase each year of the contract retroactive to July 1, 2015.

SEIU represents workers in 18 different state agencies.

Josh Norris, the union's public division director, says the organization believes the "agreement is good for both our families and our state."

It comes after months of negotiations between union members and the state of Ohio.
