We're in the dog days of summer, which means auction season is in full swing. And no one does it better than Peter Gehres.

The Hilliard man recently won the International Auctioneer Championship, meaning, at least on that day, he was the best male auctioneer in the world.

Gehres stopped in the WOSU studios to talk about why auctions are an effective type of sale, and why Ohio is such a hot-bed of auctioneering.

Steve Brown grew up in nearby Richwood, Ohio and now lives there with his wife and sons. He started his journalism career as a weekend board operator at WOSU while majoring in journalism at Ohio State, where he also wrote for the student newspaper The Lantern and co-founded the organization Students for Public Broadcasting.
