Late Winter Storms Clips Columbus, Slams Southwest Ohio
A winter storm has brought heavy snowfall to the Cincinnati area and other parts of southern Ohio, closing schools and creating hazardous travel conditions.
Most of southern Ohio will be under a winter storm warning until at least midday Thursday. The National Weather Service said some parts of the area would have up to a foot of snow accumulation.
Cincinnati Public Schools was among the districts that closed because of the weather. At least 50 outbound flights were canceled Thursday at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in northern Kentucky, where low visibility had been a problem. Dozens more inbound flights were canceled or delayed.
Most school districts in Fairfield and Ross counties were also closed Thursday.
The National Weather Service said the snow was expected to taper off by afternoon.
