January Casino Revenues Down From December

Three of the state’s four casinos saw declines in revenue last month. But as WOSU reports, January revenue is up compared to this time last year. The Hollywood Casino Columbus was the only casino in the state to post positive revenue gains last month. Columbus grossed $17.8 million in January, a modest 3 percent increase. Cleveland, Cincinnati and Toledo all took revenue hits last month. Cleveland saw the sharpest decline: 18 percent. Cincinnati and Toledo revenues were down 11 and 5 percent, respectively. While January’s numbers may sound concerning, overall, statewide totals are up compared to this time last year. Ohio’s four casinos grossed nearly $65 million last month. That’s an 8 percent increase over January 2014. A full look at the numbers can be found at the state Casino Control Commission.
