Drug Prison, College Cost Cuts On Ohio Senate GOP's Agenda

Republicans in the Ohio Senate are pushing for colleges to cut students' costs by 5 percent and want the state to set up a drug prison where addicted inmates can get treatment. Those ideas were among a variety of legislative priorities that the majority GOP caucus announced Wednesday. Senate President Keith Faber also said Republicans would focus on increasing the 20-year statute of limitations for prosecuting rape cases and addressing the algae fouling the water in Lake Erie. The Senate Republicans' agenda come as GOP Gov. John Kasich prepares to present his two-year budget on Monday. Majority Republicans in the House also discussed their priorities Wednesday. Minority Democrats have said their legislative goals include investing in local governments, charter school reform, college affordability and access to health care.
