West Columbus Man Acquitted In Fatal Bar Fight
A Franklin County jury has refused to convict a defendant in the death of a man who was punched in a Columbus bar parking lot in 2012. The jury deliberated about four hours over two days before acquitting 43-year-old Larry Sexton of murder and involuntary manslaughter in the slaying of 28-year-old James Doan III outside a west Columbus bar. Authorities say Doan died almost instantly when he was punched in the back of the head on Sept. 9, 2012, after some rowdiness inside the bar. On the witness stand, Sexton denied that he punched Doan. reports that two witnesses testified they saw the two men on the ground after Doan was punched. However, a third witness picked someone besides Sexton out of a photo lineup.
