Ross County Sheriff: Body Matches Description Of Missing Woman
A sheriff says a body recovered from a southern Ohio river matches the description of a Ross County woman who has been missing for about a week. The identity of the body found in the Scioto River on Friday afternoon has not been released. An autopsy is planned for Saturday. Ross County Sheriff George Lavender says the body matches the description of 20-year-old Shasta Himelrick. Investigators have been searching for the woman along the river. Surveillance video showed her walking into a gas station early Dec. 26 in rural Richmond Dale, roughly 50 miles south of Columbus in Ross County. Later that morning, the vehicle she'd been driving was found abandoned, with no gas and a dead battery near a bridge along the Scioto River.
