State Lawmaker Wants To Ban Cities From Housing Some Immigrants

A Republican state lawmaker has introduced legislation to keep Ohio agencies from agreeing to house immigrants who are in the country illegally. State Rep. John Adams of Sidney introduced a bill on Monday in response to cities and charities offering to take in some of the immigrant children who have flooded across the U.S. border recently. The law would make local governments and corporations ineligible to receive state money if they enter agreements with the federal government to house the immigrants. Adams says he is concerned that immigrants arriving in Ohio may have unscreened health problems or be members of dangerous gangs.
