JPMorgan To Settle Columbus Harassment Suit

JPMorgan Chase & Co. will settle a federal sexual harassment lawsuit for nearly $1.5 million. The complaint alleges the company created a hostile work environment at its Polaris offices. The lawsuit alleges JPMorgan Chase created a “sexist atmosphereâ€? by allowing supervisors and mortgage bankers to harass female colleagues. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said women who refused to tolerate the unwelcome actions were ostracized and denied profitable sales opportunities. The company said harassment and discrimination do not belong in the workplace and notes the alleged behavior dates back more than four years. Sources told WOSU the male employees associated with the complaint no longer work at the firm. The settlement money will be divided among 16 women who worked at the Polaris call center.
