FAA Snubs Ohio As Drone Testing Site
Ohio will NOT be one of six testing sites for commercial drone aircraft. Ohio has a strong aviation history with the Wring Brothers, and an equally strong footing in the current aviation industry, with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and several research centers. Things looked even better when Ohio combined its bid to become a drone testing site with Indiana and developed the Ohio/Indiana UAS Center & Test Complex based in Springfield, Ohio. But it was all for naught: the Federal Aviation Administration today chose bids from Alaska, Venada, New York, North Dakota, Texas and Virginia. The FAA says considered a variety of factors, including geography and climate.
