Upper Arlington's Historic Hutchinson House Reduced To Rubble
A day after the demolition of the historic Hutchinson house in Upper Arlington, the director of the city's historical society says stones from the home will be saved. Kate Kallmes hopes a monument can be erected in a city park with a plaque explaining the houseâs significance. âWeâre trying to see how we can salvage what is left â take the stones and make something out of them,â? Kallmes says. âAnd also this is a great opportunity to educate people and we can stop it from happening again. Itâs really quite a pity.â? The house was built in 1821 on the east bank of the Scioto River. It was the first stone home built in what became Upper Arlington.
