Storm Rips Through Trailer Park, Knocks Out Power To Thousands
Storms rolling through Ohio overnight toppled trees and left thousands of homes without power. Authorities said the weather that moved through past midnight brought 50 mph winds in some areas that downed trees limbs and power lines. Outages were reported in the Cleveland area and throughout central Ohio, where some homes were damaged from the wind. More than 12,000 Central Ohio American Electric Power customers were without electricity early Friday. A south Columbus mobile home park took heavy damage. In Hardin County. a funnel cloud was reported and a church was damaged when a tower toppled onto it. Grandview Heights City Schools canceled classes on Friday because of a power outage. Columbus was one of more than 20 Central Ohio communities that moved up trick-or-treat times in an effort to beat the weather. Many others delayed beggar's night until Saturday.
